National Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Ageing

The National Multistakeholder Forum on Ageing, brought together key stakeholders from government, civil society, research institutions, and constitutional bodies to lay the foundation for a coordinated approach to implementing the rights of older persons. The forum provided a platform to review progress, identify gaps, and explore practical strategies for promoting and safeguarding the well-being and rights of older persons.

A key focus of the discussions was data-driven policy-making, highlighting gaps in existing data that limit effective planning, monitoring, and investment in the ageing sector. Participants also explored ways to strengthen coordination, accountability, and enforcement mechanisms, ensuring that policies and programs are both responsive to the needs of older persons and effectively implemented at all levels.

The forum concluded with a shared commitment to advance Kenya’s ageing agenda through multi-sectoral collaboration, evidence-informed strategies, and meaningful participation of older persons, ensuring national initiatives are aligned with global frameworks that protect and promote the rights of older persons.
