Ageing Concern Foundation

The May 2026 Monthly Discussion Forum on Ageing (MDFA), held at PrideInn Azure Hotel, Westlands, Nairobi, focused on the theme “Advancing Awareness and Sensitization of the Social Protection Act, 2025, General Regulations, and the Enhanced Single Registry (ESR).” Convened in collaboration with the National Social Protection Secretariat (NSPS), the forum brought together key stakeholders to strengthen understanding of Kenya’s evolving social protection landscape. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, participants examined the provisions of the Social Protection Act, 2025, its accompanying Regulations, and the role of the Enhanced Single Registry in improving identification, targeting, and service delivery for vulnerable populations. The discussions emphasized the Act’s significance as Kenya’s first comprehensive legal framework for non-contributory social protection, anchored on principles of dignity, social inclusion, equity, and the protection of vulnerable groups, including older persons. The forum concluded with a renewed commitment among stakeholders to champion awareness, strengthen collaboration, and support the effective implementation of social protection interventions that uphold the dignity and well-being of older persons and other vulnerable populations.
